Ssv problem?

When driving the 8 the other day the car was running great but then started to feel like a power loss and rpm/tac seemed to move up slowly from about 4-5k to redline but also some times it has same symptoms 4-5k to about 6.5-7k but at this rpm you can feel the power come on and pulls like normal from the 7k to redline. It is sporadic as to when this happens. Idle is extremely smooth sits at 900rpm doesn't move and car runs and drives fine otherwise. Thinking it can be ssv getting stuck closed and then finally opening at 7k or just staying closed if power is not felt. Or could this be a ignition system problem just installed bhr system and was running great but hey things happen. Thanks in advance for any help

Sounds like an SSV/APV/VDI problem to me. Ignition issues will more likely cause misfires.

Okay thanks that's what I figured. Guess I will take apart and clean. Does it make more sense for ssv or apv. If vdi that's a injectors problem then right?

VDI, SSV, and air pump are actuated by vacuum. The vacuum to them is controlled by solenoids mounted to the back side of the UIM. All three solenoids are identical.

I'd bet you have a solenoid that no longer holds vacuum properly. This would deplete the vacuum in the accumulator and make it so that one of them doesn't actuate when you're on the power (read: when intake doesn't have a lot of vacuum pressure).

To test, pull the solenoids and use a MityVac hand pump to pull vacuum on the solenoid port (labeled "A" in the following diagram) that plugs into the vacuum accumulator.
