I recently had my engine replaced under warranty. However, the clutch also failed. On my way to the shop to get the clutch fixed, a CEL came on. I haven't had a chance to scan the code yet, but I'm curious if you guys think the clutch failure is related to the CEL. Once I scan the code tomorrow, we can speculate further.

I am officially part of the club. Blown coolant seal at 81k in my 2004. Fully covered under Mazda 8 Year, 100k Mile warranty. Motor should be in and ready to drive in a day or 2.

Sucks man, you should get them to do a compression test on the reman as well... Trust me...

LOL how awesome is that? Nothing like going into the warrantied period fresh! And the guy who is doing the work at the dealer has worked for Mazda for 26 years, and did the rebuilds in the area until Mazda opened their reman facility, so its comforting to know someone who knows rotaries is touching my car, not some noob who doesn't know the difference between a rotor and a Dorito....

So I got my car back today, and it feels great! Only thing is the dealer didn't reset the e-shaft position sensor so it thought it was misfiring, and they wanted $95 to diagnose that issue... Good thing the search function works, I found the service bulletin fairly quickly now all is well!!

so for anyone who is interested in the compression test results on my old engine, here they are, ROTFL

Rotor 1: 5.3/5.2/5.0
Rotor 2: 5.1/4.7/4.1
surprised the damn thing was even running! It was such a gradual loss, so I didn't even notice until I drove someone elses

Warranty does not come with the engine just on the vehicle. 8 years 100k...

If they gave a warranty on the replacement engine they would go bankrupt.

8 years/100k is pretty dam good, also its only like 3k to get an engine from them and replace it yourself. It is a sports car after all, they usually require more money and attention.

Yep, and the warranty on a reman bought from Mazda and installed by a dealer is on 12 months or 12,000 miles. Some private rebuilders offer a 24 month 24,000 mile warranty but most don't offer more than a year warranty and that doesn't include labor, etc.

I called the dealer who done the replacement before I took car delivery on Tuesday and they are giving 1 year or 12k miles and that includes labor.

Because you are purchasing it? Just like they wouldn't transfer your rx8 warranty to a new car...

How old are you, I understood this methodology when I was 16?

I just passed 25K miles. I keep waiting for membership in the club, but my 8 simply won't let me join. It won't even consider it. I am a member of the New Console Cover Club. Going on 6 years of ownership, it's nice to at least be a member of something.

Oh crap I forgot to register. 2004 6 speed. Uhhh.. replaced in August 2010 at 98000 and then drove it cross-country twice. Gas mileage still sucks...unless I'm doing 80.
