Shifting problem

I just changed my trans oil with redline MT-90 and now I'm having problems downshifting to 3rd and 2nd. when i downshift to 3rd and/or 2nd, sometimes it shifts smoothly and sometimes it doesnt go into gear all the way like it gets blocked half way. I'm not really sure what the problem could be but I think it's either my synchros or the forks. pls help

after about 5 min of driving when the car is cold, the transmission is like butter, but during those 5min I can't downshift into 3rd or 2nd. I know that your supposed to let the tranny warm up to get the smooth shifting, but the redline lube takes longer than the stock. I talked to a couple guys last night at a "walmart meet" and I was told to change the trans oil again still using MT-90 and that this time I should over fill it just a little and that this would fix my problem. Has anyone else heard or tried this?

3) BHR suggests street-driven RX-8s use Mobil 1 75W90 or, if you can find it, a GL-4 fluid. Racing fluids are not typically good for the street.

1) the same cold and warm

2) 72K

3) My RX-8 is my only car, daily driver, autox, and drifter. I was told not to use the Mobil 1 75W90 because it is a GL5 and that GL5 is not good for the brass parts in the trans.

4) No

some gl-5 use a sulfer additive to obtain the gl-5 rating. that sulfur was what is bad for the yellow metals. however if the GL-5 does not have that sulfur it is fine- and will most likely be noted on the label

this mobil1 LS gl-5 75-90 has the sulfur and i wouldn't recommend it for the tranny
http://www.mobil.com/USA-English/Lub..._LS_75W-90.asp

and neither would Mobil

Thank you for your inquiry,

Mobil1 LS 75W90 gear oil is an API GL-5 rated and should not be used in manual transmissions that require an API GL-4.

any gl-4 75-90 id say in particular

royal purple maxgear which meets gl-4 and gl-5 with no sulphur http://www.royalpurple.com/gear-oil.html

or amsoil http://www.amsoil.com/StoreFront/mtg.aspx?zo=515729

or redline mt90 http://www.redlineoil.com/products_g...7&categoryID=7

but pennzoil and mobil etc all make gl-4 75-90 that will do if you need to pick it up at the department store auto department

redlines gl5 75-90ns may be no sulphur but its hard to digest from their site and a chat is needed to confirm
