I have a 04 RX-8 with an Automatic. The lights that illumminates the consoleon the floor next to the shifter, went out. I can still what gear by looking at the dash or just by feel, but does anyone know how to check the bulb in the console to see if that is the problem. Also, I still have 6months left on warranty, does anyone know if it would be easier to replace myself or take it to the shop.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

What console are you talking about? the dash where your rpms are next to the 1,2,3,4?
When I first got my 04 the replaced this light and my blinker light to green. It was a TSB back then. If your under warrenty and have not messed with the dash take her in and get her fixed.

 

Yes, its the floor console next to the automatic shifter. The letters don't light up. It is still under warranty, I just thought if it was an easy bulb fix, I'd save a trip to the dealer.
