RX8 Vibration issues

I am getting to the limit of my frustration on this car.

The car vibrates when in gear badly to the point my mirrors wobble and the engine makes "old car" sounds . The dealership wont touch it since it is "normal", but it is driving me nutts.

Any ideas on what I can do?

Rx8 is a great car, but I will never recommend Mazda.

If your car is shaking that badly its most likely the motor mounts. Alot of people have had them replaced including myself. Tell them there is a TSB for the issue your having and it relates to cracked motor mounts. If all else ask for a Tech to do a ride along and tell the tech about the TSB, if he's competent (a rarity we know) he'll look into it. If its vibrating your mirrors akin to a V8 then you have a issue and whateva dealer told you its normal is smoking some pretty damn good crack.

I have been to all dealers in my area (2) and they all consider this car alien.

Thanks that TSB for the motor mounts is information I can use and they can look up!

My normal tech is a 6.4 fat beast (no insult needed, but its true) and I hate when he gets in my car. He never puts plasic down on the leather seats and he is greasy. It happens that he is the Rotor tech for the place I got my car.

Again, thanks I will bring it up with the dealer.

Are you moving when this happens, or just sitting in one spot? Are the revs dropping?

If just idling, get to another dealer ASAP.
I've been complaining about hard idling for a year, and today I find out I need a new engine...

https://www.rx8club.com/canada-forum-35/another-member-new-engine-club-127685/

Dont let them tell you its normal if it doesnt feel normal. I'm glad I finally insisted they LOOK with me watching, not just wave me away saying they checked and its good.

EDIT: I no longer need a new engine.. they have apparently changed their minds

When I am moving (a little bit) and when I am idling, very very annoying. I hate people riding in my car just because it is soo damn annoying. I have been shopping around for a trade in since the dealer wont acknowledge it as anything but normal.

I called the 2nd dealership (2of2) and they scheduled me out 2 weeks. Oh joy.

Its not Mazda's fault, its the dealershiT people who decided to treat their customers like ****.

Most likely you got a bad motor mount. dont buy their bullshit of *its normal*, call MNAO and tell them about it. keep complaining.

Mazda dealership wont fix squeaking breaks (though not so much anymore), odd engine sound (squealing ) vibration, and they dont like giving me a rental car since I am under 25 years old. I cant keep taking off work for this car.

I will write a letter to NMAO maybe explaining everything and see what they say. Last chance to keep the 8, otherwise,...

Thanks for all the replies. They scheduled me out 2 weeks to get the increasing vibration looked at.

Edit: no email address. Guess the ol'phone call will work.

/Hate MAZDA (dealerships). They really make or break the car you buy.

it could be as simple as bad engine mount, or as bad as a nearly dead engine.

Dont write a letter, maybe you can try to write some summary down just before you call. that should give ya better idea of what to say when you're talking to the customer service.

Any dealership can do that. Trust me. If its not your motor mounts try cleaning the mafs, check if the spark plug wires are loose or try cleaning the spark plugs, filling up at a diff gas station. See if that helps.

Update:

Called MNAO and explained all the crap this dealer has given me, primarily, the refusal of rental cars during warranty work. They sorted that out with the Service Manager.

The vibration issue were the ignition coils arcing and the car drives a bit smoother thats for sure. The one thing that bugged me though is that they drove the car 80 miles harder then I ever did. I have kept track of my MPG for a year and this was 4 points lower then my lowest (14 vs my 18-20) and of course they didn't fill it up.

There were some other issues that I am still working out with MNAO regarding the blatent lying for my "final inspection" coupons being MNAO's responsibility and not the dealership.

Ah well glad to have my car back and out of evil's hands.

Mazda USA usually can get the dealerships off their asses and into fixing your car.

Well its been everything else that the dealership has been doing. Attempting to fix my car has not been an issue.

No since the car was vibrating at a stop.
The car is still vibrating, but not nearly as much since the ignition coil and wires have been replaced.

If all dealers in your area are not helpful, maybe you wanna get a cheaper lawyer to write them a letter. It's not that hugely expensive but it might safe the car you love. Just my 2 cents...

Having the same issue with my Serie II here, mirrors wobble in idle.

I changed my engine mounts, now it seems a little worse. The new mounts look stiffer, which explain it I assume.
But looking at my old mounts, they don't look damaged, no crack, no spills, nothing.
Coils, spark plugs, wires freshly changed but no effect.
MAF and ESS sensor cleaned as well (though they were already clean)

I told the seller of the new mounts that they were defective (thinking they could be defective), so they send me a new pair. But they look exactly the same. it's not going to make any change.

I don't really know what to do at this point.

Yes, I bought original Mazda Engine Mount, and everything went back to normal.
Don't buy engine mount on ebay, for any car

I wanted to save money, at the end I lost money and time.
