Bad Vibrations...

So I hvae been doing a bit of research, and well I am still not really sure what deal is, but I am wondering why the good ole car basically shudders when in very low rpms..
I'm talking between the area of 900-1700 rpms. The car runs smooth as butter after that, but when taking of or idling the car will produce an intense vibration all the way through the car.
It started happening one day when I went to the local dragstrip, and well since I am way outta warranty I just had one of my buddies take a ride and look-see to figure it out... he is kinda stumped but suggests fuel/air thing, of motor mounts..
If any one has some suggestions, im always open, and I can also make a video clip of what is happening to help better explain..
Thanks.
