Ok, I just want to make sure I understand this correctly. You're saying your air filter is getting coolant on it?

So the coolant is dripping down on to the filter?

It is likely boiling over and exiting the overflow hose and dripping down to your filter. You need to fix your coolant system, something is not working right. DO NOT OVERHEAT IT, even once. fix it.

Is your throttle body still connected to the coolant hoses?...maybe you have a throttle body coolant leak??

I would check to see if your coolant is running low or drops within a couple of days ..... Have you ever replaced your radiator ? I have had mine since I bought the car new in 2004, I had to end up replacing it and a lot of the hoses due to deterioration. The plastic literally turned to dust on the top opening of the radiator causing the leak between the inlet and the hose; It would shoot coolant out at random times towards the inner front facia and the air box. (just something to consider as all our cars are getting older)

Best of luck !

Don't just throw parts at the problem. Work out what the problem truly is.

Is this a custom air filter setup or is it the AEM version of the Mazdaspeed system? I'm trying to figure out where the filter is located.

it is this one and the air filter is located behind the bumper below the coolant reservoir

You could end up throwing a lot of money at the car that might not be needed.... It could be just as simple as the L shape hose connecting the radiator and coolant reservoir together. Last summer I ended up having to replace everything

thought it was the tank: replaced it (fixed my low coolant light) and in the process found out that the radiator turned to dust.

Bought a new Radiator (BHR) and Racing Beat Hoses. Car was still leaking

Ended up realizing that the tiny hoses that looked fine and held water would not hold up under pressure and would sometimes leak into the inner facia and air box. Mazda says you should replace them every 5-8 years.

how much coolant does it have to be in the reservoir? i have to pour some every time i want to take the care for a spin because somehow after i let it cool down there is a little bit of coolant in the reservoir..do all rotary engines take so much coolant?

definitely not. The system should be sealed and properly pressurized, coolant shouldn't be going anywhere.

either the coolant going through your throttle body is leaking out or somewhere near the radiator is spraying coolant onto the filter.

pressure test the system, i bet the top of the radiator is pissing coolant from the small bypass hose port.

Yes a pressure test is a pressure test, a 5 year old could do it.

Check the little plastic nipple on the radiator, it is near the overflow bottle a bit to the right of it and down. If needed I can upload a photo for you. My car was doing the exact same thing when my nipple had cracked off. It is a very common issue with our stock radiators sadly.

Here yea go man, great DIY to fix the issue if it is actually the problem, or you could always just convince your self to go out and buy a performance radiator, especially now that its summer! Great investment IMO.
