I have been premixing my gas for a while now. the other day i filled up without a premix and it drove fine for a little while. I started to notice a loud raspy intake sound whenever i accellerate and it idled like crap. Really rough. so out of couriosity... i through some 2 cycle oil in my gas and it all went away and started running smooth again. Anyone heard of this problem? would it not be a sufficient oil supply from the oil supply nozzles?

Ditto here, just this last week I ran out. Car runs fine, but sounds more raspy. I am thinking that 4 oz of oil and a few oz of Lucas gas treatment in 15 gallons of gas cannot make that much difference, right??

Also wanted to confirm this, i have another thread going on where i stated rough idle issues, low power and a grinding noise and it was all fixed with a few oz of premix. i was skeptical about how much it would really help at first, but the difference is like night and day. The car has never run better, pretty much all symptoms are gone.

because im a noob, what oil do you use?
how do you premix?
how much per fill up?

I use Idemitsu Premix and all you really have to do is pour 4-8oz in your gas tank before you fill up from empty, at least thats what i do.

your not going to notice anything at all. however it is safer to premix.

if you just pour some 2 cycle in your gas tank in go driving...thats stupid...

That's funny... In my first post, i wrote that i have been premixing and my car drove smooth and idled nice. After two fill ups and no premix, the car has a raspy sound and idles like crap. Then...... I through 4 oz of 2 cycle oil (like i usually do) and the car is back to driving smooth and idleing smooth. To me, that sounds like noticing alot. So, if anyone else can let me know thier experience with this, it would be appreciated. Thanks

I do the "water/WD-40 injection" through the intake nipples on the manifold once a month. Haven't Seafoamed in a while, but i notice the water helps just as well. If it was that it needed to be seafoamed, why would a premix help the idle and running so much? i'm just kinda confused about the whole situation.

The extra oil may be improving your compression at idle. Seafoam will remove any carbon that may be restricting the seals from doing their job.

Thanks, bro. I'll go back to seafoam and see if that helps. Which, probably will. I'll update. I was just thinking, maybe, the oil injection wasn't working properly.

Sure...it could be an oil injection issue...however it is more likely that you are having an issue with carbon buildup whereas the small amount of extra lubrication is just enough to get your seals to work properly. If seafoaming doesn't help I would take it in for a compression check and let Mazda take it over from there. At that point it is probably either an issue with the seals or the OMP which you aren't going to be able to diagnose very well on your own.

It's a good idea to premix before doing seafoam because the cleaning will remove the oil as well as the carbon.
Mazda techs use the OMP on a crazy high setting after cleaning to accomplish the same thing.
Make sure the engine is well warmed up before cleaning!

For best results you want the engine warm as it should help loosen up the bond between the carbon and housing/rotor.

Yeah... Best to make sure the E-shaft sensor and the intake vacuum nipples are accessible and come off easily...

You don't want to be struggling with them when the engine is super hot and you're in a remote parking lot...

Then go for a drive to the gas station. Add fuel and 2stroke oil.
Go for a nice long drive to warm up the engine.

Then do the cleaning procedure.
