Just got my notice from Mazda for RX-8 Fuel Tank Recall. Have it scheduled for 2 day recall work next week. Any body know how serious this potential problem is?

Got mine yesterday as well. I thought we were also supposed to get a letter for the arm joint recall? If it's incoming, I'd rather wait on that and then get both dealt with at the same time. I don't know if I'd get such a letter though since my car is outside that production range.

you're not gonna get the arm joint letter if your car's outside the production range, because that means your arm joint is fine, aka no problem with it :D

I was just in the dealer three days ago and they emphatically stated that there were no recalls for my car. Today I just received the two recall notices. Why do most dealers employ such jackasses.

both letters came in the same envelope. if you only got one then its because you arent int he vin/date range for teh other . you can check that yourself by reading the documents posted here and ont he rosenthal site.

Got mine yesterday too.

What other recalls are there that I should be aware of?

Both Recall Letters

OK....I received both letters today as well, in the same envelope. Funny though....I went straight to the dealer to make an appointment. The service manager stated that he had received the parts and instructions for the fuel tank / heat shield recall but had receive neither concerning the ball joint recall. I told him that I would wait until he could perform both recall inspections at the same time.

Received both the fuel tank and ball joint letters today.
The Lower Arm Ball Joint problem sounds serious. Has anyone heard of crashes that resulted from this defect?

LowerContr.arm recall

I got both letters today, for the heat issue and the Lower Control arm. I used the bulletine from another thread that Gomez posted and with my Dad's help we checked the control arms for the markings ( K4 & the <> - 1 marks) as shown in the picture, that would indicate a need for replacement.

With a Jul. 03 build date I saw an FR & <> -1 on the left and a F0 & <> -1 on the right. That would mean no replacement on this vehicle. Scheduled the inspections and work for 23 Sept. at Morries Mazda, Minneapolis.

Charge ahead, started 12th grade today, need my wheels. The chicks dig the 8 !!

He HAS received the instructions for the lower control arm recall, and if he had read them he would know he will not be getting parts for that particular recall. Lower control arms are to be ordered online as required. This system is in place as the number of parts required expected to be required is extremely low.
