Help Needed : Engine Lost Compression
My 8 had stalled since 4mths back. All the mechanics here in Brunei claimed the engine had lost compression. Do i need to replace to new engine or rebuild it or any other option? Engine is hard to start since i remove the cat converter. after a while i drove the car, idling drop drastically, resulting in idling problem. After sometime i manage to start the engine, since the idling is not good so i press the accelerator for around 15mins. Smokes coming below the car & i found the the rear o2 sensor wire is melted.
Really need u guys opinions to solve this problem. Thanx

Oh btw, lists of mods :
HKS RS Kit, HKS Legamax Muffler & Custom Pipe (replace cat). Adding more info, i've checked the spark plugs. Rear plugs are wet but front plugs are dry. Is it possible the front rotor ain't working or there's something problem with the MAF sensor??

You do need a special tool to check the compression on a rotary engine, however if the shop told you that its lost compression, the engine is probably done for. If its under warranty, you should try to get it replaced, otherwise the engine needs to come apart to see if it can be rebuilt or not.
Take it to Mazda or a rotary specialist and get the compression numbers for each face of the two rotors. My guess is that you have lost compression on at least one rotor, meaning the engine is shot.

Sustained high RPMs at a standstill can damage the underside of the car including the gas tank. I don't know the status of the recall in your country but you could have heat related damage. It may not be related to the engine problem but you should have the dealer look at.
Good luck.

Try to take some good pictures of your spark plugs and repace them while your at it if you haven't already done so. I'd like to see what your old ones look like. Part of your description sounds like a flood condition which will definitely act like and literally reduce your compression.

I think that the climate by you is similar to Las Vegas in the US. We have a rash of blown engines there.
