Recall notices arrived today.

I guess the Bay Area is in the "high risk" catagory of "Western and Gulf states".

Interesting that they're positioning it as an "emissions recall". I also got the warranty extension notice today.

I haven't had the compresion loss problems others have described and I already have the S flash, so I think I'll wait until the dealership builds some experieince with this recall before I take mine in.

Cheers!
Bob

Take it in. You'll get some new plugs, the "T" flash and they will check your cat. No big deal...

Got mine today too. I just had the starter and spark plugs replaced maybe a month ago. Still going to bring it in and get it checked out. Hopefully the dealerships don't try to screw you over with the "testing".

I got one today as well. Since I traded her in a few weeks back I'm wondering if I should take the notice to the Chevy dealership and inform them or just say the hell with it and toss it in the trash.
Being that it's a voluntary recall I highly doubt they would inform the new owner. Probably wouldn't be a good selling point.

"Voluntary" refers to MAZDA, not the owner

The recall is volutary for MAZDA. That is, the EPA (or some other federal entity) has not mandated it. Fill out the card & drop it in the mail. It costs nothing.

It emmissions recall as it has to approved by them.

The ecu is changing the mixture and how it runs at highway speed.

That's why it took so long. They had to test the new settings.

They're working from west to east.

I got the extended warranty stuff in today's mail, but no sign of the recall notice.

I'm in no hurry. Haven't hit 2000 miles yet, it's running just fine. The longer I wait, the more miles I'll get on the original spark plugs - and the more value I'll get out of the free replacements.

Actually, all you need to do is take it to the dealership. They can check the computer for any open recalls that have to be performed on your 8.

Unhappy

got my warranty extension letter, where it is instructed to bring my 8 to any US, Mexico or Canada dealer to be taken care of... and this only 3 months after moving to Finland, Europe and here there is no same problems like in US - no recalls.

And, if I would like to get the latest flashes, the European models don't have the cruise control as an option ? and after flashing I would loose that functionality

So basically this will result in a PCM flash and some spark plugs? I'm worried about them unnecessarily trying to give me a "new" engine that doesn't work as well as the old one.

How has gas milege been for people who had the work done?

Will I have to removed my RP Supercat prior to going to for the emissions recall? How about other little mods?
