A REAL DSC problem...

Trawled the forum for hours, only to come up with the same answers to the infamous "DSC light on" problem.

In the past this has worked for me (ignition, turn wheel, etc.,) after disconnecting the battery. However, after I did a steering rack swap I put the car back together and took it for a test drive to see if everything was ok. DSC light was obviously on and after taking it for a drive, noticed the wheel wasn't on straight. DSC light had turned itself off by now.

Disconnected battery and set the steering wheel straight. Now the DSC light is on and will not go off. Tried all the reset procedures, including the ECU ones.

Any ideas??

Only thing I can think is I read something to do with the steering angle input sensor may set off the DSC light if it isn't set straight?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry Sean, don't have an answer for you, I'm hoping that the problem went away, did it?

BINGO !! Fix the steering issue and the light will go away. I know this from when I had an engine installed. The wheel (rack) was just a little off from dead center and the DSC light was on.

Yeah that's what I thought. Had the wheel off a couple of times to try a couple of different positions off-centre, still no luck.

I haven't had the tracking done since the new rack, so I think once I get that done I can see if the wheel was off true-centre even with it straight.

I hope that will solve it, otherwise I'm all out of ideas.

Thanks for the input nonetheless.

How did you attempt to fix the off centre issue? Via the tie rods or by taking off the steering wheel?
