Quick Question: Trunk Problem

The trunk release mechanism on my RX-8 seems to have failed in some manner. Both the external key release button and internal release button no longer pop the trunk open, so I have to use the key to open it.

I'm assuming maybe a fuse went.

Has anyone else experienced this difficulty? Also, I noticed there is some fraying on the trunk seal in the top right corner. Very minor fraying, but perhaps water leaked in and caused difficulties?

Thanks very much for any input,
Steven
