Power steering

I have this problem for 2 weeks After I brought my car back from auto body shop. When my car not moving, I turn the steering wheel to the left and it's lumpy, with a weird noise, but when I turn it to the right, that's very smooth. Sometimes While Driving, it's losing the power steering ( the power steering light is on) and I have to turn off, then on the key again and the light went off ( the power steering is back).

I think I will try to replace the U-joint, but will it be another problem or someone has the same problem?

It's talked about at length in the MM thread and RWWIP has a thread discussing a possible fix as well. When you read those threads you will find there is no definitive answer to your problem, rather a possible process of elimination.

I read them before but I'm still wondering that my problem will be solved like the one in WWP's thread? I don't know exactly the problem WWP got and solved, so I have to open a new thread like this to ask somebody else has the same problem as me.
The problems that somebody has with power steering is just greasing and lumpying while rotating the steering wheel, but not losing the power steering ( causing the power steering light).

My issue was resolved for a year or two by replacing the harness with a new one. I was having lumpy steering, random steering wheel movement, and straight up power steering failure. Then my problems returned and it was fixed by replacing the power steering noise filter. For now it is working (or at least it was before the engine/turbo install). The dealer will immediately jump to replacing the whole unit, I suggest going with the cheaper alternatives first.

Hello

A brand new first time RX-8 owner here ( 04 HP )

I just picked up my car today, and I expirienced a very similar issue as this. Difference is that mine was smooth when I turned left, but "lumpy" when I turn right. Where is this noise filter located, is it an easy fix? About how much does this unit cost?
