Check your CAT Converter.

It could be a number of things but start with the CAT then try searching as it's a problem that has been addressed several times.

Are you getting a CEL? Is the car stock or modded? If it's modded. What are the mods?

Seeing how you just bought this car I would recommend a little maintenance. Install new Ignition coils, Plug wires and spark plugs.
You have visually inspected the internals of the catalytic converter to verify it's OK?

Doesn´t the SSV opens at 5500 rpm?

Maybe its not moving freely because of dirt/oil.

other than test the cat with a laser, have you checked any other recommendations (plugs.coils. etc)?

No it opens closer to 4200 rpm but its not a set rpm amount it can vary on load while the APV opens at 6250 rpm

Coils can cause problems at any point.

Now you need to check that the actuators actually remain open. If the diaphragm in the actuator has a hole in it the valves may open briefly or not at all

Temperature test on a Catalytic ... that's a new one for me .... I wouldn't know if that is a good thing or not.

<shrug>

Here's a great thread on the SSV

Don't know what your budget is but I wouldn't go with the OEM coils .... go BHR

Seriously

Did you get a compression test when you purchased the car?

Whoa ok ... lets slow down a bit

Coils are expensive ... OEM or Aftermarket ... so before we go spending your hard earned allowance lets try and find out what the problem is exactly.

I'm going to list some stuff and you are not going to like all of it ... but you need to be aware that a rotary engine with that much mileage on it is going to need work ... mostly likely.

/start list
- Coils .. common problem and OEM coils only last around 30-40k - how do test them .. people generally have misfire issues
- Clean the Maf sensor
- Clean the ESS sensor
- Catalytic convertors fail all the time on the 04 and 05 models ... very very VERY common problem and really expensive to repair
- Compression ... low compress is another very common problem ... getting a compression test done is cheap and will give you a good idea of how healthy your engine is.
- Air Filter dirty

You'll need a vacuum pump to check the actuators for the SSV .... hook up the vac pump to the actuator and make sure it stays open ....
Personally I would take the Upper Intake Manifold (UIM) off but not everyone does that.

happy searching and reading ...

No stay away from the chips.
The only reason I'm not flaming you on this ... you caught me in a good mood.

However if you post something like this is another thread ... you WILL get ripped apart.

Only way to get significant HP gains is Nitrous, Turbo or Super Charger
