Potential Long Term Reliability

Potential Long Term Reliability
Ok, this is my first post but I've been reading through most of the posts and searching for answers for a couple weeks now. One of the things I wanted to ask is that I'm in the market for a new car, and I was looking towards one of the Sportier equation. I used to have a FC a while back and while I loved the car's handling and power (it was modified) it ended up blowing up! My own fault, was pushing too hard and had too much power going through it, and when it did go, I was in a period of financial strain.
Now, I'm not particularly interested in too much of the "go-fast" stuff, but I wanted a car that was fun in the twisties. Of course, the two cars that I was looking at were the G35 and the rx-8. Personally, I prefer the ride of the rx but one of the major concerns that I have is that if I were to pick up the G, I have reasonable ideas that the car is going to last 100k miles without too many issues other than the normal maintenance on a sports car, but I've heard of too many horror stories with the rx to have that warm and fuzzy.
Was just wondering if these feelings are actually accurate or if I'm just focusing too much on the negatives. Its just I'm hoping that the car that I get (since it is going to set me back financially for a little while) is going to last and not make me regret it, especially after the initial warrantee is up.

I've had two RX-8s. The first was totaled when I was rear-ended on the highway. I liked the car so much that even after the harrowing accident, I got another. No problems whatsoever with either car. The warranty is very strong. The customer satisfaction ratings on this website are very strong. The car is great fun to drive.
