Possible compression issue? HELP!!
So lately my 8 hasn't been able to go above 6000 rpms. Also when in 2nd and 3rd the car has trouble accelerating, it will get stuck at 2000 rpms then onces it gets past that it does it again at about 4000. It is getting colder here and It just started doing it within the past week. I have 61000 miles and recently had an oil change (conventional oil). HELP!!

I have a k&n air intake, nothing else done. I have not changed the coils yet but I had the plugs replaced about 7 months. I haven't looked at the cat and idk what a CEL is?

oh boy...
The coils and plugs for this engine don't last too long (~25k miles). Use the search function to look up how to test and change them (hint: in the DIY section).
Inspect your cat to see if it glows after a drive. Or better yet, pull down the front and visually look inside.
CEL = Check Engine Light.
I STRONGLY recommend you read through your owners manual, and the stickies on this forum.

I will say that I had a CEL before and the test showed it was a cat problem. I got the oil changed and it went away and haven't seen it since. There is also the red light coming up for cooling I believe but I heard that was common.

You can rev to 9krpm in neutral because there is no load, but once you put it in gear its a different story. I agree with soldier, and the fact you had a CEL for cat: Cat, and ignition. If your cat is glowing red its overheating maybe cause of a clog or a lean mixture (missfire). You can get the cat replaced by manufacturer under federal law, since your still within the mileage/time frame.

okay so I brought it to Mazda and the cat is covered thank god but I have a bunch of other problems like broken neck on my coolant resivor, bad coil(expected), and bad motor mount. Grand total for everything is 640$. Not to bad consider I am going directly through mfg.
