possible bearing or diff failing??

HI People
I was at the dealer today and they reported a whining noise coming from the rear of my car at about 50mph.
I believed the noise to be coming from this set of tires that have bald areas where hard braking was done on track days. so I think the noise is unbalanced tires. ( I have attempted to balance it but it doesn't balance the rims are straight).

How would I know whether it is the bearing, diff or just unbalanced tires?
Is there anything you can detect in a fail diff or bearing?

Thank you

Swap out the tires...if the noise goes away you will know it was the tires

When did you change the diff oil last? What did you put in?
