Took the access port map out last week and it's stock settings. Basically it was just turning the fans on sooner 185/195 and more oil from the OMP.

Just talked to them and they say in about a week Mazda is sending one of their engineers over. Third time it will be. At least it'll be HOT when they get here this time.

The main thing at this point is they are trying to do something. They have tried in the past with this same issue, but it was to late in the year. The temps had already dropped back into the 80's when they were here last.
Now I got 'em coming when it's sizzling outside. Hope those engineers like it HOT!

What "many"? I just have one now. Refer to avatar. ALL other past problems with the car have been taken care of by Mazda.

And no they did not mess up putting in the fourth engine. The Tech is a close personal friend of mine and Berge Mazda is in my opinion the best dealership in Arizona.

Well if you think about it, it's one way to see if air flow out of the engine bay is an issue. Or whether it's just sitting under the hood holding heat.
Last year they worked on getting as much air into the radiator as possible.
So you really might think this is silly but it has it's merits.

But it does sound silly.

Good luck Eric! This engineer coming from Japan? Maybe he will figure it out before he passes out from the heat.

Then again, he could like the Brits I work with, and be half lizard, and sit in the sun soaking up all the heat he can get!

 

Actually I've been talking to a couple of 07 AT owners. They have some of the same issues.
The thing about this problem is that most AT ( I'm gonna hate myself for saying this) are women and men they don't pay attention to the dash gauges. They bought the car cause it was cute. No mechanical inclinations at all.
Another thing is when Mazda did the engine temp calibration on the gauge , they did it as such as to not show that the engine was in any danger of over heating or was overheating. (Whether this was purposeful or accidental I do not know.)
90% of the time it doesn't move. And then when it hits a high temp of 231 degrees it only moves about 1/4 to 1/2 from center to the top.
I have seen a full 3/4 gauge reading and I don't know how hot that was. Guessing,, 255+- degrees.
Most people wouldn't know that the car was getting hot. They are all thinking that there's a problem with there A/C system. "Oh it's blowing hot." Not knowing the engine is actually hot and the ECU is shutting the A/C off to remove load from the engine and hopefully cool it down faster.
They take the car to the dealer and have the A/C checked. "Oh Miss/Mr./Ms. Blah Blah Blah your A/C system is fine."
Off on there merry way they go unaware of what is happening.
I was talking to the dealer about this very thing today. And he said he had a couple of people come in with just that scenario. Checked the cars and nothing wrong with the AC system. The dealer said he would watch that scenario more closely now too.
So you can kind of see the perplexing situation I'm in and a lot of innocent Mazda owners are in unknowingly.

Why would that matter in a pressurized system, where the only air "should" be at the top of the overflow tank. Assuming that you would need some amount of air to make foam from water.

 

How about concentrating on the hot spots?

We have infared images posted here.

Find the hot spot, bring in more air.

Wrap it with Dragster fire retardant material etc..

 

This might be a dumb question, but if you cranked on the heater, would it draw heat from the engine? Not that you would do that in 100 degree weather...

yup - this is an old trick .... If only you could direct the heater air to outside the car and still be able to use the a/c ......

 

I hear ya, yeah ... thats a big problem, people are buying the car cuz its cute, and never cared about the car.

I wish Im in AZ next week, so maybe I can use some of my broken Japanese to ask those people a few questions.

Yes it works rather nicely in dropping temps, but it also cooks your eyeballs when it's 115 degrees out side. We tried it in Mazdmaniacs car the other day. It dropped the coolant temps 10 degrees in less than a couple of minutes.
But hell if I'm going to run around with the heater on when I have AC.
