False, the oil residue most times is not due to overfilling since that is one of the rare occasion that ever occurs. Oil vapors from the engine breathe through those hoses and accumulate oil up in the accordion for those running stock or the CAI filter for those running after market. This is a problem for all '04-'05 cars and Mazda claimed to have a reroute solution they used for '06+ cars which didn't solve anything either. Research through the threads that discuss about this and you'll see what I'm talking about.

'06+ uses a different hose routing and sends it from the filler down to the lower intake manifold but, this is still introducing used oil down into your injectors which IMO, is not preferable. Also, this "solution" that Mazda did, didn't do jack **** in the new location for the 3rd hose that goes to the intake. I know because this is exactly what's on my '06 and after cleaning the intake the first time I bought the car used from the dealer and running it all last year, in the winter time when I was cleaning stuff down there was again a crap load of oil residue in the accordion tubes.

If you don't want oil vapor residue issues down the road which lead to either a) oil drenched air filter for those running CAI's or b) stuck SSV valve which Jon has a thread on from a while back already detailing this, get a freaking catch can for a peace of mind and route from the filler neck to it while capping off the necessary locations off.

From everything I've read most of the oil coming into contact with the filter is because of overfilling oil. I do not doubt what you say but I have yet to read about any of that. Obviously this isn't a huge deal or Mazda would have done more to fix it and most of us would know about it. I'd say the majority of the oil in the intake is caused by peple overfilling, not to say what you said is wrong but I believe it happens less often.

Look at it this way, the clutch pedal is a well known time bomb that will break sooner or later, and they're not doing anything about it. They obviously don't put high priority on recalls for this machine so saying they would of done something about it means, nothing. In fact, they already did do something about oil residue from the hose coming from the filler neck which is why like I stated, for '06+ vehicles they rerouted the hosing which as I concluded, still did nothing as the new hose that took the place of the one coming from the oil filler neck, is also breathing oil vapors into the intake.

I have no doubt it happens, in every 8. It's not a matter of chance, it's a matter of time. The way the hose routing brings it to occurrence. It does happen, it will happen and can mess up your intake valves.

Faults like this are the same on all companies I think they take how much they may have to pay in law suits compare it to how much they pay in recalls then decide if it's worth it or not.
My last car an Alfa Romeo 147 had a fatal flaw it's cam belt would snap prematurely by about 10k to it's service and this is what happened to me.
