Was driving and my center dash LED died, engine switched off, will no longer start.

No power to radio, clock in the center console, or OBD2 gauges.

Power to the stock gauge cluster, door lights, headlights, dome light, key switch red LED light. I can open the trunk and lock the doors with the remote.

 

Earth to space alien, please check your fuses. Might start with the room fuse by the driver footwell.

 

I did go back just now and rechecked the room fuse, I still hear the click from the car resetting when I unplug and replug the room fuse, I also confirmed the fuse was not blown through a multimeter.

I think I once started and drove the car without a room fuse, long time ago, maybe that was 2010...

But I can't find any blown fuses, I have checked under the hood and at the drivers door pillar.

I also swapped most of the relays out on the under the hood fusebox, but it made no difference so I put them back as they had been.

I hope it not the ECU.

 

The room fuse cuts power to the PCM so you can't start the car without it, let alone drive it ...

Try looking in the electrical diagrams to see where the power comes from for the items not working ..

 

I seem to remember leaving it out once after I cleared the ecu by pulling the room fuse, car ran bad and would not make trims. I could be wrong, as it was a long time ago.

Do we have any fusible links between the under hood fuse box and the center dash clock?

 

Only had a few minutes, some of these are good based on what is working

Main fuse 120A
ACC fuse 30A
BTN fuse 30A
ACC relay
Room fuse 15A
ACC fuse 7.5A

 

Could be multiple things too. Did you confirm fuel & spark (assumes it cranks).

 

Not cranking, it's not even clicking like its trying, it acts like the clutch is not down, but the clock and console LEDs are off.

I'm going to jump the starter solenoid to confirm the starter works.

And my KeySec LED is NOT blinking, it goes off when the key goes in.

 

Where is the "main fuse" I see where it is marked on the fuse cover, but I do not see any fuse that comes out.

Also, isn't there an electrical fuse link somewhere under the center of the dash?

 

It's on the battery + post assembly i think, no starter means big fuse or immobilizer

 

Starter relay is

Main fuse 120A
Clutch pedal interlock switch
ACC fuse 30A

 

Sorry, my bad, it's fuse #1 where the power cables come into the engine bay fuse box, the fuse at the battery is #38

But you'd have no power at all, the ACC fuse seems like a common denominator, or immobilizer ...

I connected my Cobb AP and it was able to read a code P0335 Crank position sensor circuit malfunction. (no pulses detected; maybe because it's not turning? <g>)

I have actually cleared this one before, but now it comes back.

Can that code stop the starter?


A P0335 "check engine light" code could be caused by:
1) Damaged CKP sensor connector
2) Damaged reluctor ring (missing teeth or not turning due to sheared-off keyway)
2) Sensor output open
4) Sensor output shorted to ground
5) Sensor output shorted to voltage
6) Failed crank sensor
7) Broken timing belt (we can rule this out?)
8) Failed PCM


But, will the P0335 stop the starter from making the attempt to start, or at least click?

Can a bad starter make no noise when the key is to "Start"?

 

It explains why the engine may have quit running. It has no impact on whether the starter turns on or not unless there is an overall PCM issue. Not sure where you got that list, but it's not correct

Bad or dirty ESS sensor
Open circuit
Grounded circuit
PCM malfunction

/Ominous that PCM malfunction is listed as a possible cause; maybe too many flashes? Is there a limit on Cobb AP flashes to the ECU?

 

Are you either a noob or a guy with a supercharged engine, no service manual, and no idea how to verify if the starter is good or not?

Start with the basics and stop fretting over over something you haven't whittled it down to yet.

First place to start is the battery condition and connections, then go from there ...

 

When everything gets newer as you get older. LOL

Update, not the starter or starter solenoid.

Jumped the starter solenoid with 12 volts positive and the starter turns the engine fine.

 

Bad ignition switch? Maybe

TeamRX8 nailed it, the ACC 30Amp fuse was toast, I moved the 30Amp "BTN" fuse across and got starter happy sounds. (I did not try to start it, till I know what BTN is for)

Oh course, now the battery is dead!!!!
