Unhappy No lights flash on lock!!

Hello,

I cant seem to get the lights to flash when I lock the doors with the fob. I have a 2005 Rx8 AT which I just bought it recently and the lights never flashed since I had it but after reading several threads, I think they are supposed to.

I know what most people are going to say: "make sure that the trunk and engine lid are closed" I assure you that I have made sure that both are closed several times.

Also, my hazard lights are not working when I press the button just above the cd player. I'm not sure if they are related or not, maybe.

Any ideas?

Hmm....forgot to mention that I already changed the fuse for the hazard light and it still doesn't work.

Is there another fuse for the blinking lights?

Did you check the fuse box inside the cabin on the driver's side? I don't remember which circuits are there, but you might as well check those too...

Ya, I checked the fuses inside the car but I dont think that there are any for the hazard lights. I checked them all anyways and they are all fine.

I'll see if I can dig up where it is, but with all that you've said..............it could be the flasher relay!

Ya, the turn signals still work.

If it is the relay, then is it something I can replace myself?
Where is the relay located?

And both rear doors - on mine it won't flash if the rear doors aren't shut properly.

I have tried everything you guys are saying. All the doors and the trunk and hod are closed properly. I have owned the car for 6 months and the lights have never flashed on locking. Also, the hazard lights were not working when I bought the car.

Any other ideas?

If the trunk/door/hood was open his hazards should still work.

To the original poster:

Did you or have you done any moving of any cables or unplugging any connectors anywhere at anytime? Also............if you are not the original owner, do you know if there is any after market lighting in or on the car?

reasons......however far fetched.

Something happenned to me when I was changing my daughters cabin filter in her 3. To do this you must actually take the damn fuse box out(which on that car is behind the glove box)! Anyway, once I was done her alarm wouldn't arm, and therefore lights wouldn't flash either. Actually she had a door ajar light lit, even with doors closed as well, but the dorrs would lock. Come to find out that one of the connectors wasn't properly seated. I'm thinking since you hazards don't work either that this could be the cause.......and bad connector not seating properly. So...............has any work been done on the drivers side inside panel or around the center console area?

Also wondering if someone before you may have wired something wrong and you just never noticed?

mine did this when my passenger door lock actuator failed. If a door doesn't lock the lights won't flash.

Yeah, but I think it locks, and his hazards aren't working either. Could be related, might not be? Gives him one more thing to check though.

Good bet is the "flasher control module" after looking at the schematic, and that's located on the drivers side footwell. A lot of people do wiring over in that area, so that why I think it would be good to check those connectors and any aftermarket wiring in that area.

The Keyless control module is apparently located over on the passenger side and this could also be bad?????

Ok....so i have checked all of the connections within the drivers side footwell and they all seem to be connected properly. There is no aftermarket wiring in the car so I dont think I have messed anything up on my own.

I wasn't sure which one is the flasher control module wire?
