No Crank/ Low-Crank

No Crank/ Low-Crank

Hi guys,

After my tumultuous thread previously,
I've managed to replace my older coils, they were totally shot.

After 2start-up (a drive upon installing the new coils - freeway + abit street stop and go), on my 3rd crank my car doesn't crank anymore.

On the 4/5th try, it cranks, BUT very-low, i.e. I have to step on the brake pedal at the same time to try to even get a crank.

(when trying to get a crank) I could hear the starter trying to engage when I turn my keys.
and if it does give a crank, my car have no problem starting (so I don't think it's the battery, nor the starter - OPTIMA battery just replaced 1.5years ago)

My question is, is it a worn out flywheel that causes low to NO crank?
or
is it the starter?

(car mileage: 76K, engine replaced at 55k)

Any input is totally appreciate, (if posting how totally shot my coils are would help to assess my situation, let me know)

Environment factor into consideration: It's been raining ALOT recently, like downpour and thunder-storm.... humidity on contact point maybe?

ADD: I am a skinny guy, and I couldn't jack up the car on my own... I tried =(

Might be the starter, but if it's also cranking slowly I'd check the battery cable connectors. You can replace them for under $10 and the stock ones are completely crappy. If you try to start the car and get a series of clicks and the dash gauges start sweeping back and forth it is definitely the battery or the connectors.

Doubtful it's the flywheel, and if the flywheel is trashed enough to effect the starter then the starter is trashed too. You could pull the starter and check the teeth on both, but I don't think it's worth the effort yet.

It's pretty easy to jack the car on your own if you have a good jack. The one in the trunk is worthless and if you intend to do some of the work yourself it's a good investment to buy some jack-stands and a good jack.

Sounds like Battery voltage issues to me......if it runs once it starts...it likely is not the alternator

Sometimes batteries fail when they get warm.....and work better when they cool off

If the battery is more than 3 years old..save yourself the issues and replace it

- probably not the batter though, I got it like 1.5years ago. Optima RedTop, unless it fails me that quick O_O" only been through 1 winter.

No sweeping, just no crank... radio works, brake works, up and down the windows working also, but not sure about power steering as I didn't turn the wheel.

if it cranks it runs, the problem is there's low crank or no crank.

Does it help to wiggle the key in the ignition?

Tried, nope.... (no inside light dimming, no low battery alarm alert as well- car locks well, headlights look fine-since it's dark now, it helps me gauge if it's really bad battery)

Am wondering if a REALLY bad spark plug can caused this issue?
Can't even jump start the car, because there's no crank at all.
So, I can only keep try turning the keys from switch 'on' position to 'start'.
My friend has suggest me to put it into 1st gear before starting it; I might try that.
Just a habit of mine, to start it in neutral gear.
