Need help with power steering issue
Need help with power steering issue
I have an 04 RX8 that I recently got and the EPS hasn't worked since I got it. I have pulled the wire harness and checked that and it is clean and looks good so it's not that.
I am not getting power to the high tension plug located at the top of the radiator. I checked the EPS fuse at the battery and that is OK as well.
I OHMed the feed that comes off the fuse with the + side of the plug and have no continuity.
So where could I be loosing cont?? Also should the high tension plug have 12v constantly to it????
HELP!!??

Need more info.
When you say the feed off the fuse, what wire do you mean exactly? The fuses are on the + wire if I'm not mistaken, so if you don't have continuity from the fuse to the plug, logically the problem is in the wire between those 2 locations.

Seems you're on the right track, however, you may have a better luck with responses if you post your concern in this thread: DIY, Power Steering Problem

Thanks Grace I will try that too.
The 60a EPS fuse is located right off the + terminal of the battery.. So there is also a single heavy wire lead that is plugged into that same fitting that supplies power to the + side of the MAIN high tension feed plug.. This is what the short 3 foot wire harness plugs into.
Basically, I have no power to the main plug of the wire harness.

So that means you have a problem with the wiring between the point of 60A plug and the first connector.
You sure you check the wiring correctly? that wire is pretty thick and there is almost no way to have a cut somewhere in between.
