rattle reason and few other things for bonus :)
Okay, i guess it have to be a broken exhaust manifold... (not sure, but it really sounds like that)
but i do have other concerns too, couple in a fact..
the CEL went on, mainly because the catalytic converter doesen't have anything in it anymore..
but now the cel light is blinking sometimes for few times and then continues to illuminate permanently? what does that mean?
i don't have OBD2 reader on my hands now to check, but i bought one and its on its way.
and one concern is the clutch / gearbox?
is it normal when sitting on neutral and i put first gear in theres a little "notch" in the rear like it want's to go already. so the clutch is giving up a little?
and if i go to high revs like 8-10k rpm its really hard to change gear smoothly.. it's like the gear box is full of glue and i never have the cuts to just ram it in to gear :D don't know how smoothly they should go in high revs..
my guess is that the clutch is failing?
you tell me

and one thing, is it normal that the Oil pressure gauge goes to low when car stays on idle long?
after i touch the gas pedal it goes to normal?
im asking a lot of different questions here, but bare with me :D just curious about these things.

i do not base my action due to the anwsers i get here, im not that dum...
but i due take a notice from them for a possibility to be true and helpfull.
there is nothing really wrong with my car... it's all been checked @ local mazda workshop.
well it is couple months back, but still... im pretty sure (for ex. the oil p gauge going "off line" when long idle is a minor bug.. not a real oil pressure drop and destroying my engine...
well if it were i guess the engine would'v been blown by now...
so chill and don't get so angry :D

If you are losing oil pressure, you are either out of oil or something is seriously wrong with your oil system. The fact that it is dropping at all means that your engine is probably terminally damaged.
A very slight chance that the oil pressure sensor is malfunctioning, but I doubt it. Most cars, by the time it dips, it's already too late.

oil levels are correct and so on...
my money would be on a malfunctionin pressure sensor or gauge.. but i can't say for sure...

i googled little about this "oil pressure dip".. and found few threads saying these "gauges" in the dash are pretty much worthless?
compared to mx5 oil pressure gauge that is 100% better and shows the "on the fly, pressure"
as in the rx8 shows the same pressure reading all the time?
and just to say... so mines pressure gauge stays at the middle(ish) in the same point every time.. except for the dips if idling for a looong time...

The RX-8 OEM oil pressure gauge is an on-off switch basically. Either it shows that you have oil pressure, or it shows that you don't.
The original Miata (NA series) oil pressure gauge was a true gauge. Late in the NA series run (late 90s) they switched to a dummy gauge that we have today. Probably a consumer convenience thing where people were freaking out if it was a bit low but entirely still safe.
My 99 Miata / MX-5 has the same oil pressure gauge as the RX-8, and when I lost the first engine in it, it was because of an oiling problem. The gauge dipped while running and boom, there goes a bearing.

that's why im not so concerned about this because this does NOT happen when engine running on gears...
only when sitting neutral and idling long time(and not everytime... couple times i have seen this happen now)
it can be something worthwhile checking out but i don't think it's not anything major..

and this all was done by catalytic converter that was so clogged that it warped the engine block and cracked it.
