My gear shifter came apart. What do I need to reattach it?

I was driving up I-5 back to Portland and my shifter came off while changing gears in traffic. I pulled over and took it all apart with my lucky-to-always-be-around 10mm wrench right then.

Drove it home with being able to look at the ground and the shifter spinning and sliding freely.

What do I need to affix it to the spindle? Was it glued on or was that broken rubber gasket holding it in place?

After some of the guys at the service dept. of Royal Moore and I did some searching through the service manuals and found nothing. They popped open another 8 to find out how it was actually attached. Lucky for me, it'll take the cost of a tube of JB Weld to fix it as its normally just glued in place
