Are all Mazda techs !@#$@#% idiots? After reading about all this BS, i am really not looking forward to that dreaded day, if it falls under 100k miles. Otherwise i will source out my own engine and put it in, !@#$ the dealership!

Simple, it's an easy way to get customers to spend more money for the "piece of mind" of a new clutch since the engine is out anyway. They are just trying to "save YOU money".

All dealers/retailers do it in one way or another.

So guess what everybody...after the dealership installed my engine yesterday and test drove it.The engine bay completely caught on fire. The fire department had to come down and stop it.WTF. This sucks

Got the word this morning when i called them. I haven't got to see it yet, but they pretty much told me its totaled.

Yea sounds like they maybe got oil on the exhaust and or didn't connect the oil cooling lines properly. Some of the dealers seem to do a half **** job on putting in reman. The cars need to be treated like they are there own imo*. If your belts hoses and lines are old they should tell you / show you not just throw them back on and not say a word. This is what happens when things are rushed too fast.

^^An 8? From what I've read most 8's catch on fire due to the CAT going and gets hot/overheated before someone replaces it.

razz's car caught on fire due to an improperly installed fuel line.

the op's car caught on fire after the engine was replaced so its going to be the same cause or oil as mentioned above.

OD said to NOT reuse the fuel connector hose between the two rails. He knows of several cars that have caught on fire because they reused that line. I just purchased an new hose on his advice for my new engine.

This hose here:

yea they called me yesterday from an unknown number while i was at work, but wasn't able to return there call. When I listened to the voice message they just said to call them back and that was it, nothing else, didn't even sound urgent or mention anything about the fire. When i called they were already closed. So I called them bright and early this morning and thats when I found out.

Hell...they probably forgot to hook the fuel line up at all....

Better to triple check things before you start it.....

Ask Nemesis...even with a double check we still forgot to tighten a couple of things

It probably get's brittle with age from heat / cooling cycles. I am just getting into Rx-8's but on old Rx-7's lot of plastic would just snap after 6+ years like the solenoid tubes. It prob has steel liner but maybe it dripped out a crack? Sorry im assuming it has polymer?
