Guys.. lol you don't even know the story. Sokim does, but don't over judge the dealer you know nothing of. The mechanic is a personal friend of mine and he almost died (for what it's worth, granted no one even asked if anyone was in the car..which there was). Besides, as far as I know, would YOU want to hear a voicemail that says "call me ASAP because your car blew up"? not really. Professional demeanor at all times...seriously. Sokim, they always call from unknown BTW. lol. Anyways..just had to put it out there since people just start capping and they don't even know half the facts. :/

Hey Marc thanks for clearing some of that..yea Im glad nobody was seriously hurt..Yea other than this incident which is definitley an accident, the dealershop was by far the only one in the area that had good service and help. I just hope
that all this can be settled soon. I have no idea whats going to happen yet since the insurance companies havn't looked into it yet.

no problem. I forgot to mention Sokim that the dealership actually also called me LOOKING for you to see if I had any other contact info for you, but when I asked Tom (who tells me everything mind you, especially since I'm sponsored by them) he couldn't tell me what was up. I don't know if it's due to some sort of legality or just straight up professionalism but.. yeah. So the last thing they were trying to do was avoid him. Like I said, would YOU guys be cool if a dealership left you a VM simply saying "your car blew up, call us back". i wouldn't even be able to sleep, especially if I didn't know all the details.

BTW Sokim when I talked to them about it, they said that it should be okay, it may just take a few days or something. And that they'll most likely give you good money back and probably a huge discount on whatever car you want there. Granted, that's just all a "most likely"...so I don't see why they wouldn't!

Damn those pics are nuts. I was looking for that rail connector hose at Mazdatrix, didn't find it. But in addition to O-rings for injectors (suggested on another thread). There is a note there saying that part 13-1580-N3H1 Fuel Rail Insulator

Here is the quote on that from Mazdatrix "This is simply the plastic spacer that goes under the primary fuel rail where it bolts to the center housing. This is another part that likes to "disappear" during engine work.". I wonder if this is perhaps something that could be considered as possible fire culprit. Maybe it allowed that hose overheat?

edit add: After looking up that part it shows some vac hoses so I don't see how they could of left that one out. Mazdatrix messed up I blame them lol. They seem to of cut an past an Rx-7 part note into the Rx-8 fuel parts page.

lol Nicole if you're close to Wakefield you should go to the dealer and check it out. Seeing the pics and seeing the car in person are very different, even though the pics are REALLY good. Sorry again though man..keep me posted. :/

Damn, ur car is 100% totaled ...

well, good thing is that nobody was hurt badly. Im sure they didnt intentionally set ur car on fire. **** happens all the time.

obviously they left something out in the re-installing process, which causes this. I mean I got an engine replacement. my car didnt catch any fire (hope never will), Fuel lines are same old stock one (I will replace the soft lines around 60-70 K miles anyway, just to be safe, another 5K miles+)

Im sure the Dealership will pay you back your car. They have insurance too.

Wow...there was some serious heat gong on there...

One would think you would get a High market value for your car..

Sorry, but, frankly many are dreaming that the Dealer will give you a brand new RX-8..

It will be up to THEIR (Dealer)(Not Mazda's) Insurance company.

Wow sorry to hear about your car dude. I have been following your thread because my 8 is in getting a new engine too. I was hoping they wouldn't scratch my new front bumper. Catching your car on fire is f-ing crazy. Who would even contimplate something like this happening? I hope they make it right. Good luck!!

Well yeah Clavius chiming in here

Sokim got a luvly Camry Hybrid for a rental car. And nothing much else really from the dealership. From what I remember him telling me is that the Service Manager didnt talk to him, their DM/GM didnt talk to him and neither did the Owner talk to him. So far I'm highly impressed with their customer service can you sense my sarcasm.

I know all dealerships are different but I know for a fact that if something like this happened at the dealership I work at we'd have our Service Manager, General Manager, and Sales Manager all there when the person came in to say sorry and they wish to make things right.

I talked to Sokim today and I hope he does what we talked about. If so trust me he'll be getting a very nioce car

man sorry to hear that this happened-- hope it all gets worked out.

That is exactly like 2 other cars looked that I saw pics of. Its a fuel fire no doubt--not oil.
Its going to be a mess because i will bet you that fuel line was not replaced when they installed the new engine. So insurance is going to say dealer fault--not an accident. It is in the mazda Manual to NOT REUSE THAT LINE.
Ask me how I found out
Back them up agaisnt the wall--- i bet records would show that line was not ordered for your replacement.
You had a lot of work in your car--dont take "market value".
