MS exhaust 2.5? Little confused...
Ok...I'm confused and I might have a prob. My rx8 had MS exhaust already on it when I bought it. I thought for some reason that it was a 3.0...but I've done some reading on here lately and I've been told that it's a 2.5. IS this true? Another reason I wanna know is I ordered and had a RB dual midpipe installed and I'm pretty sure that thats 3.0. I have sputtering now in the high rpms and no advance in power and I'm wondering if thats the reason why......difference in size causing exhasut leaks. Can anyone out there set my mind straight on this?

You saying it's true to what I said about the sizes being different and causing the power loss...or you sayin true to what 8 Maniac said. I would assume even if it's not the cause...that I should still put the stock cat back on.
Come on guys...I need a definet answer if you know. It didn't do the sputtering till I put this thing on and my coils and plugs are brand new.

All Racing Beat exhaust components utilize stock flanges. They neck down to 2.5" at the flanges. PhillipM got 268 HP out of a 2.5" exhaust, so your power loss is not related to the size restriction.
No. The only reason you'll have noticeable loss of power is if the flow is blocked. An exhaust leak will not cause a noticeable loss in power. If there is an issue with your exhaust, it will most likely be the catalytic converter being clogged, meaning it needs to be replaced. It's not a matter of proper installation.

Your cat is gone...
Your be a happier guy when you install the mid pipe-- believe me
.........the mid pipe is already on pico........thats what I'm afraid is leaking and I thought it was due to different sized piping but everyone else here thinks different and I beleive them. So this leaves the only option of leaks somewhere at the flange. Only thing I can think of since plugs and coils are new. Grrrr very frusterating...

Sorry I just noticed your reply....and I have no idea what to think now. There is no cat now so I have absolutely no idea what could be resricting the airflow

Try resetting the ess profile. Stomp rapidly approximately 20 times with the key in the on position (but do not start the car). You'll see the oil pressure gauge needle do a half sweep. Turn the key to off position, then back to on and start the car.
High RPM breakup (after I installed something new) was usually cured by doing this.
