MS exhaust 2.5? Little confused...
Ok...I'm confused and I might have a prob. My rx8 had MS exhaust already on it when I bought it. I thought for some reason that it was a 3.0...but I've done some reading on here lately and I've been told that it's a 2.5. IS this true? Another reason I wanna know is I ordered and had a RB dual midpipe installed and I'm pretty sure that thats 3.0. I have sputtering now in the high rpms and no advance in power and I'm wondering if thats the reason why......difference in size causing exhasut leaks. Can anyone out there set my mind straight on this?

the only component of the exhaust that may be causing power loss is the cat
|
hmmm interesting.... well I guess it was just installed wrong or someting. Leaks somewhere are the only thing I can think of
|
or at least I hope thats what it is

No. The only reason you'll have noticeable loss of power is if the flow is blocked. An exhaust leak will not cause a noticeable loss in power. If there is an issue with your exhaust, it will most likely be the catalytic converter being clogged, meaning it needs to be replaced. It's not a matter of proper installation.
Your cat is gone... Your be a happier guy when you install the mid pipe-- believe me |

Sorry I just noticed your reply....and I have no idea what to think now. There is no cat now so I have absolutely no idea what could be resricting the airflow |
my oem coils were changed about 6k miles ago....and my plugs were changed about 2 months ago....so it cant me that. Damnit

Try resetting the ess profile. Stomp rapidly approximately 20 times with the key in the on position (but do not start the car). You'll see the oil pressure gauge needle do a half sweep. Turn the key to off position, then back to on and start the car. High RPM breakup (after I installed something new) was usually cured by doing this. |
in a worst case scenario, you could be having more severe engine issues.
