More Brake Dust out of the rear pads

Ever since i changed over to the Hawk HPS pads (front and rear), i noticed more brake dust coming out of the rear brakes, than the front. Very odd since usually the rear brakes are used much less than the front.

I was thinking i over torqued the caliper bolts when replacing the pads. Anyone know the torque spec on these bolts? Also, any other thoughts on what it might be?

and no, i dont crank the ebrake in turns - LOL

forum problems again. don't know the problem, but you'll have to wait till the forum functions normally again so everyone can see this thread.

me three. more dust in the rear with the hawk ceramic pads. also have a ring of rust around the rear rotors from where the pad doesn't touch.

I guess that's what my red dust is, must be coming from the rusty rotors in the rear every time the brake pad hits the rotor. Weird though, because i don't get any brake dust on my front wheels.

Hawks grind and wear out the rotors.

mysql101, are you sure you have ceramics?
Ceramics may cause a little more duct but they protect the rotors.

I carbon kevlar pads from Porterfield.

They have been racing since 1984.

actually ceramics cause alot less dust, but I have the same ring of "rust" around the rotor that mysql has.

i don't know if it's less dust. I still get dust, but it's a different (lighter) color, and it doesn't seem to be sticking to my rims - can easily wipe it off.

it may be that the Hawk compound lets the ABS use more force on the rear brakes than with the OE compound, it modulates the braking force on all four wheels based on impending wheel lockup
