So I almost got hit the other by some idiot and swerved out the way and a red light on the right hand gauge came on ( looks like a red monkey cage). what it is this light? Forgive me if the question is stupid but my car came without an owners manual

 

coolant light perhaps? you may want to check the coolant level

 

yup, check your coolant reservoir.

 

It's supposed to look like a radiator.
