IV been chasing all most the same thing. I do not have the oil light problem on my 04 rx8 but I have cylinder 1 misfire at 4 and above. Things iv done
All 4 coils
Plugs and wires
Clean maf and crank angle
Are cleared code's

Mods are
Under drive pully
Rev 8 intake
Turboxs race pipe

I'm starting think it's injector because it only happens under load if down shift and bring it up past 4k it won't throw the code

I got my issue resolved, it was the Engines CPU. For some odd reason previous owner was in an accident with the car. ECU needed to be replaced. Its a Canadian car, but for some reason they replaced it with a California Spec Computer. So I bought a used Canadian ECU, and all my issues went away. I know the emissions are tighter in Cali. But still don't really know if that really was the issue.

Misfires are one of 3 things 99% of the time: Spark plugs, ignition wires, or coils. I usually change the plugs and wires first because it is cheaper before looking into the coils. If compression is low enough it can cause a misfire as well but generally the car won't really run at that point.

Back from the dead I know.. Short and sweet, did transmission swap cuz syncros where bad, also stage 2 clutch and lightned flywheel installed. Before that installed aem cai. Since then ive been throwing mainly po302 and po300 codes, rairly po301, did the basics clean maf new plugs ngk orridums and autozone coils and wires (duralast) life time warrenty hopefully woyld quit with the codes so I could get exact idea and upgrade to bhr.. Everything is tight made sure done the 20ft stomp and confirmed oil gauge sweep. Still getting misfire lately it has only been on the freeway cruzing 6th gear around 4k light on the peddle, thats when it always occures to flash. Today in seconf gear was flashing on heavy load, even cleaned throttle body idk what to do where to go getting raped by mazda dealers hurts this is my last resort fellow rx8 community witch should have been my first PLEASE HELP what should I look at what should I do where do I look!? hi guys sorry to post like this but i just joined the site and cannot figure out how to make a new post with a issue im having with my rx 231 in the uk.
my rx8 has recently misfired in cyclinder 1 which i have changed the misfire spark plug which was all brown on external connector and browny black on inside but not wet and ended up gutting the cat as it was badly blocked and replaced this and i have attempted to deflood the car , currently it will fire up but with my foot 25% on the pedal on the way up after deflooding mode( foot to the floor)but ont at 1000rpm but when i raise it up any more the engine cuts out and tries to start again and when i push it back down to floor engine cuts out prob as fuel is cut when foot is to floor any advice and how i can make the car idle again ?
am i doing something wrong or do i have another faulty part i need to address?

Your likely going to need to get these MIL codes resolved first and determine if you still have the same misfire problem once that is done. If that is indeed the case, you might want to turn your attention from the spark side of combustion process to the fuel side. Getting misfire in a constant run state but not under acceleration load may be indicating a fuel delivery issue.
