Question Lost power in 1st gear.

I got my recall and winter tires at the same time. For some reason the car seams sluggish in first now Not sure if its me, tires, or the recall. Anyone experience this?

Did you check to make sure you aren't engaging traction control? Winter tires suck in the grip department.

Grip isn't the issue, the car does not rev as quik and seems slow in first. Some peoiple on another forum said its because the copmputer needs to relearn how I drive. It may take a while for all the calibrqtions to be done by the computer. I know jackshit about cars so I'm not sure what all that meant.

do a pcm reset and see how that works.

with the ignition off, hold the trip reset for 5 seconds then turn it to the on postition while still holding the button. after a few more seconds it will say "test". turn key back to off.

then go back to the on position and press the brake pedal 20 times. the oil guage will sweep to max and back if you did it right. turn key back to off, then start car and drive normal.

I got it thanks. Should I drive the care easy or hard while the ecu is doing its stuff?

My 2004 w/50k mi also feels significantly more sluggish off the line after the recall work. Additionally, starting is significantly harder than before.

I complained immediately to the dealer (128 Mazda) and they said "everything was within spec".

It's been 2 months and things haven't gotten better (or worse).

Lower rpms seem to be lacking some power after the recall. Contrastingly, however, my mid-upper range has felt a definite increase in power (I'm actually pinned into the back of my seat without dropping the clutch!) This may be due to either the reflash, changing all fluids, or the combination of the 2.

I'm getting the MS flywheel, intake, and exhaust put in this week by the dealer. I will mention to them the issues I'm having. Hopefully it can be fixed
