Loss of power....2-3 seconds crank

I bought a mazda 2004 rx8 95k miles 2 month ago

I takes 2-3 seconds to start
and now I feel a loss of power under 4k rpm

I installed new sparkplugs
I just ordered new coils...should arrived in a week or two

I have read that the 2-3 seconds slow start can be caused by the original starter that is weak

My starter have just been reconditionned (because i broke my clutch and it hurt the starter to so i had to repair it).....still a slow start....

Maybe the loss of power i caused by low compression...so new engine possible....I have read that when they installed a new engine, it comes with an upgraded starter

OK..what should I do?

1. Install coils and see if my issues get solved
2. If unsolved, go to the dealer and ask for a compression test, so maybe a new engine and a new upgraded starter for free and all problems get solved

advices please

thanks

crank issue -- how old are your battery?
power loss -- it could be any thing, if you can get a compression test under warranty then go for it.
Try cleaning your throttle body, it might be sticky and will probably solve other issue that you have not run into. Car with high mileage can have all sort of problems if the previous owner does not keep it well maintained. Does the car have any maintenance record you could look at to see if their was any past issue that was not taken care of the car was sold to you?

I dont think a 2-3 second start is long by any means... Mine has new plugs and coils and still has occasional long cranks when starting hot.

And as for the power loss, the car doesnt really have power under 4k rpm

Power loss under 4k...hmmm 95k on the motor. I bet it has to be the fuel pump or clogged primary fuel injector. Try there first. Had the same issue with mine, ended up being primary injector.

Check this thread: "Strange power loss" by aka_rob. He got the same problem we have and they discussed it a lot. Did you manage to fix it?
