So I had the cat go bad on my 8 a couple months ago and had it replaced via warranty. While it was in I had asked them to check this strange metallic rattling noise under the car too. They wrote on the ticket "Tech also confirmed rattling around muffler and mid pipe." But apparently did nothing about it. Is there anything that can be done besides a new exhaust? I mean, is there any way to have a muffler shop clean out the muffler and midpipe, or would that be a waste of money? At this point it's just annoying and makes my 8 sound rickety, so I'd like to get rid of the sound, but not sure it's worth replacing the entire exhaust if that's what would be involved.

LMAO! That would be a WAY more annoying sound!

 

There are a lot of people who have replaced their stock exhaust for aftermarket. perhaps you can pick one up fairly cheap.
