Jumped wrong terminal!!
So the worst thing just happen to me.. My car battery was dead so I hook up the jumper cable to my friends car and I told my girl to hold the other side. As I open my door my girl said she's gonna hook up the cables so I said sure.. (Wrong thing to say) once she said she connect it I turn the key and my alarm goes crazy my head lights turn on and I don't hear any sound like the engine is turning.. Once I notice that, I get out of the car and i hear my girl go OPS I knew she put the jumper cables on the wrong terminals i switch the cables around trying to start it and the same thing I don't hear it turn and the dash is going crazy my alarm and hazard light go on... My question is how much is it to fix? What should I look for to fix this problem? Can I fix it myself? ... I'm so pissed off right now!

Whoops,
I was chatting to a guy today who did exactly the same thing with a Miata his car went completely dead afterwards and they think he may have blown the computer.
If yours still has some power that is a good sign, hopefully one of the fuses blew. Go though your fuse box and check every fuse you might be lucky fused cost pennies. Other then that have a good smell around any electrical parts if something blows you will be able to smell it and that should give you an indication as to where the fault might be.
Next time your girlfriend touches the car very calmly tell her to STEP AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE!

like I said in the thursday meet thread. you better hope the fuse caught it and burn at the right time.
or else there is a very high chance that ur ECU(and whatever other electronics) might be toasted
where u parked ur car anyway? maybe I can get my Multimeter over and check a few things.
but you should look every single fuse first thing in tomorrow morning. including the one by the kick panel (the left side of the pedals)

There are certain things that will appear to work even if the main 120A fuse is burned out(and this is the one you better hope did it's job).
Sorry for the crappy pic, but it's #4 in this pic. It's a fusible link, so it doesn't really look like what most people would think a fuse looks like. Anyway, if that is burned out it's about $5.00 at the dealer. This fusible link is located on the lefthand side near the back of the engine bay fuse box.
You are going to want to check every single fuse in both the engine bay and passenger cabin fuse boxes.

Good point Jon.............disconnect the battery first!
Remove both bolts that Jon shows in his picture, if you look at pic/drawing I put in this thread you will see that it does indicate two bolts.........it shows one, but then look at the lines showing where they go....you will it goes to both sides. That means there are two bolts of the same size, one on each side!
If you have a meter and know how to use it, then all you have to do is see if the fuse is still there by measuring resistance between the two bolts.
0 ohms and you are good to go................if it reads real high or infinite resistance(ohms), then it's blown.
If you could get your head in there, I guess you could see visually if it's blown, but I'd rather use a meter.
Oh................and nice pic to add to the collection Jon!

Funny... because I actually see it in one of your pics:
And it may just be the lighting... but that fuse does look blown.
The fuse panel is held down by a few tabs around the outside.
Once you pull back on the tabs. you can lift the fuse panel out some.

No... there are two bolts securing the fuse.
Attachment 172907
And make sure the battery is disconnected before messing with it!

Here are the tabs that need to be released before the panel can be lifted out:
Attachment 172914
Then you can reach the two bolts securing the fuse.

most us don't have it.
so what u need is As-Built data, PATS info, (you can get both of them fairly cheap from Mazda's site)
and pay a small fee to have Mazda dealer to write it for you. it should come out to less than 500 bux.
But the problem is that -------------------- you are not sure which component works which one does not. u should test it a bit urself first and yeah if u are free today I can bring my multi meter over.
