I just covered my AC lines per DIY post. Not that I have a problem with my a/c but what the heck. I think the 05s have a much better a/c system than the 04s IMO, although on a 95+ degree sunny day with the car standing at a redlight the a/c does get weak if left at number 1 setting/fresh air. But with the dial at 2 and fresh air selected its actually not bad, even better if its on recirculate mode.

Fourth trip back to the dealer, first trip the amp, second trip freon and changing some "board"(?), third trip another amp, this trip they tell me will be the replacement of the compressor and a new "board". 50 degrees would be just fine if it would keep running long enough to cool the car. After the third trip the selector went carzy and would only give me some cooling in max then it felt like the heater came on. I'ts been 117 F. + so the opening all the windows trick does not even work and like a dummy I got the black 8. I just hope Mazda or the dealer does not say enough is enough. I don't think they can but who knows.

My dealer tells me that they are not expecting the parts to ship for the recall untill the first week in August.

FACK! Got a call today from the dealership. My car wont be ready until monday. Worse part is, this weekend is my 1 year wedding anniversary and we were really looking forward to taking the car up to the city (san fran) and enjoying ourselves.

Sometimes **** just dont work out.

if you want MAX A/C you HAVE to set it on the recirculate mode, this is true for all A/C systems otherwise you're trying to cool down 90+ deg air in a single pass in the fresh air mode, not going to happen

^ Yes, the settings for me have made a big difference. I always have mine set to recirculate, the dash vents only setting (not floor, mixed, etc), and the corner dash vents by the doors closed. Like this it blows ice cold and like a hurricane. Any settings other than this though and it doesn't work as well. We've had quite a high 90s days here and its worked pretty good.

there's another a/c thread here about a guy who got his amplifier "reprogrammed" by the dealer and he swears by it that it is now freezing cold... Check it out.

i usually run my AC at 4 when i first get in the car. But after 10 minutes it's FREEZING even at 1 i have to turn the vents away.

It's been around 95 degrees out here and so humid that my glasses fog.. I had just the AC amp replaced when the tsb first came out.. although I didn't really think it was that bad before.

Strangely, since the humidity has lately gone up here in Austin my AC has worked better. The temps have still been in the mid-90s too.

Also, the one thing that bothers me and I can't seem to fix is the amount of air (CFM) is much less from the left-center vent than the right-center vent.

Anyone had this and fixed it? Maybe the hose is kinked underneath?

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet, unless it's just common knowledge or I missed it, but my AC is pretty cold -- until I come to a stop. Then the air is rather warm to just a little cool. Once I'm moving again the air suddenly gets very cold. Anyone else experience this? The same thing happens in my MX-3, although not to this extent. Oh, and it's been in the '90s for the past week or so here.

EDIT: Well, it looks like I might have missed something after all. I just checked out this thread -- https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-trouble-shooting-95/new-ac-fix-dealers-66922/ -- which discusses this exact problem.
