I am getting an error code P2004 Intake maniford runner control stuck open. . . it is pointing to the APV. Have you run into this problem before?

I pulled the ACV off. There is a gear there . . . to open or close the intake runner. The gear will not turn by hand with the vehicle off . . .is this normal?

now i dont know too much about the apv and the valve it controls but i have the same problem and i took the apv motor off and tried to turn the big gear that it turns and it would only turn about a half inch either way and its suppose to turn one full turn both ways. so the only thing i cn think of is that it has alot of carbon or a peace of carbon droped into the valve and got it stuck. but im having mazda do a decarbonize the engine and hopefully it will free up the exhaust valves. if not then i will have to tear apart the engine and clean out the exhaust valves. i hope this helps you and if you get your engine fixed plz tell me what they had to do to fix it.

 

I changed the APV and Didnt do anything. Next im going to try to clean exhaust valves and body else go any ideas?

It should turn freely by hand with the motor off...if it is plugged up you could try and soak it in carb cleaner by spraying it in the intake runners with the UIM off.....to see if it loosens up

 

one injector is not working? anyone has wiring diagram for mazda rx 8 engine? PCM?
