Unhappy [resolved] Immobilizer issue?

I just wanna say that I did a forum search, looked through my manual, and Google'd, but couldn't find an answer.

I was cleaning the inside of my car, and I (stupidly?) turned the steering wheel without starting the car. I heard a click, and the steering wheel became locked. I then tried to start the car, but I can't turn my key when it's in the ignition..it's stuck on 'Off'.

Is it safe to say I triggered the immobilizer system? If so, is there any way I can fix this problem without having to tow it to the dealership? I really don't want to deal with my parents when they find out..

So yeah, any help out there would be great.

Alyssa

try turning the steering wheel a little to the left or right as you are turning the key, sounds like you engaged the steering wheel lock, and there is a little too much tension on the lock for the key to turn.

yeah its not a big deal just use some force (no power steering) to turn the wheel and at the same time try starting it. You should feel it unlock as you turn the wheel and just turn the key.
