Idle vibration after recall service

Dealer did the Emission Recall 4206F service, which consisted of testing cat, replacing two spark plugs, and flashing ECM. Now when car (late '04- 6spd M/T) is warmed up idling in neutral, there is an increased engine vibration that wasn't there before. You can feel it in the shifter and it also causes a slight droning sound in the car. Has this happened to anyone else?

That's the strange thing. It didn't start doing this till about the 4th drive cycle.

Check that the spark plugs are tightened properly, and that the spark plug wires are well seated on the plugs.

I noticed exactly the same thing 1 month after the recall (idle vibration, change in engine tone) and I ended up replacing 2 spark plugs (the 2 they didn't change during the recall). It might have nothing to do with your issue but sounds strangely similar.

If you start throwing CELs at high rpms under load, have them check your plugs. (my story)

I'll check the spark plugs. Seems like I read in another thread about a dealer not installing the plugs with the correct torque and after a while they started to work loose. The dealership I bought the car from has a horrible service department. I first thought it might be a motor mount, but the car only has around 3,800 miles on it. I only drive it about once a week and never had problems until after the current Recall.

My exhaust sounds different with the new flash but i have also notice more engine vibration at idle, especially with the ac on.

I was hoping the reflash would improve my engine vibration at idle (yes, mounts have been replaced already), but the vibration is unchanged, and now my car has a harder startup than it did before. It cranks for about 2 seconds, stumbles, then starts. This in the same week I spent $1,200 on our Trooper for a bunch of preventative maintenance work. Now it throws CELs for a cylinder 6 misfire and that say I I need to replace an ignition coil. I told them "Hell no, it was fine when I brought it in. You replaced the timing belt and the spark plugs - which one did you screw up???".

I've become convinced that once purchased, a vehicle should never again visit a dealership.

'05 MT with 12,500 miles. Ran perfect when it went in 2 weeks ago. When I picked it up it was making really freightening noises (I could almost hear the rotors spinning and a droning sound). As people have said, conditions quickly improved.

However, it still is making a horrible sputtering, choking kind of sound when cold and rev'd to about 2K or higher (never go over 3 when cold). Never heard/felt this before recall. Although they checked all fluids (about 300 miles ago) I'm also getting a coolant level warning when running (warm) at 6K for more than a few seconds. I added some coolant last night, will see if that resolves it. Seems strange though that I've noticed a number of coolant-related posts in the last few weeks...

I too saw the cooolant light come on intermittently after the recall was performed...

Also, I've been running the car pretty hard, and ran some BG44K through it, and I still get a stumbling startup that wasn't present before the recall.
