Identify this nipple! Suck or Blow?
First one to identify, and describe the function of, the black nipple in the center of the picture wins.

I was having a vac/boost leak following installation of new injectors. The leak was localized via a high pitched, reedy, sound and some mild increase in rpm when starter fluid was sprayed around the injectors. I thought I had, perhaps, crimped a grommet so I re-accessed the injectors. In the process, I noticed some pooled oil and a loose or detached hose. (See picture.)
I have several questions on this. I have a pretty good idea what this is, but I would like re-education on how this works, for a number of reasons.
First, during installation of the greddy turbo, I installed a check valve between this nipple and the intake. Is this check valve necessary?
Second, The check valve is installed so as to block flow out of the nipple but allow flow in. Is it oriented properly? It has been so long since I installed this, I am wondering if it is even proper.
Finally, are there newer, better ways to deal with this system? Cap it? Link it to something else? (Not a Sohn. Not interested in installing that. )

It's vacuum for the OMP. Assists in OMP Oil delivery.
Your check valve with the Greddy turbo would be there to counter Boost. It's a vacuum port so when boost is prevalent it will not allow back feeding of boost pressure into the OMP circuit.

All this is great info. Thanks.
Unfortunately, I now have more questions than I started.
1) Could this have been a vac leak source? (causing a reedy, high pitched sound?)
2) Can oil blow out of this nozzle?
3) Can I just cap this nozzle? (I cant understand the point of it anyway if there are check valves.)
4. etc) If this was not the leak, what was? are my OMP check valves working? What am I going to eat for dinner?

No, with the same caveat.
Couldn't answer any of those questions from here.

If this is a smallish problem that can be mitigated by the aftermarket checkvalve, I am not really interested in fixing the issue now, because within a year (depending on when I get my turbo) I will have the engine out and a new one in. Could Jeff or someone else comment on how stupid or smart this idea is?
Please note my excellent use of nested quotes. Thank you.
