I had to jump start it this morning, find the culprit...

I did all of these things differently last night; in the morning, the battery was drained. Which one caused it?

a) Left windows and sunroof open
b) It was cold (Southern California "cold", not real cold like in the NE)
c) Left my cellphone charger plugged
d) I didn't return the wiper lever to off, just shut off the engine
e) I left the smart key card thing inside the car
f) All of the above
g) None of the above

Note: I did a quick search and found that this happens sometimes when the trunk is not properly closed and the light remains on. This was not the case, I checked it.

hmm... maybe it depends on the type of charger? I left mine in (twice ) and it was the known culprit

Hmm, my acc power outlet shuts off when I kill the ignition so I dunno why it would drain the battery, but it looks like the only logical thing, I guess..

ha yeah, mine was a verizon car charger for a droid. It could be the type of charger if it keeps sucking energy even when the car is shut off. Mines been plugged in for the past week and i havent had any problems.

The cold weather always brings out the worst of our car. I'm steering towards a weak battery. These past few days that we had the rain; I've always left the wiper on and car charger plugged in, yet I have not had any problem with my battery draining.

Yeah its a weak battery, none of those things you mentioned would drain your battery. The socket where you had your cell phone charger has no power to it when the car is off. Did you happen to double check your trunk and make sure it was closed? Also how old is your battery? Is it free from corrosion?

That's what I think also, I had left the smart card and the charger before, so it makes sense it's just a weak battery. I double checked the trunk, too. There's no corrosion and I suppose it is 4 years old (I got the car used and it's a 2006)

It's been 3 nights since it happened and it looks fine. If it happens again I'll just go and get a new one.

Thanks.
