Hp gains from ecu reflash?
I just took my car in for the recent recalls. I never had the ecu flashed before and my car feels more responsive. I have a B&B exhaust, K&N intake, short shifter and springs, and i swear my car feels more responsive and quicker than it did before. Any1 know how much power is typically gained if any from the flash? I could just be crazy...

i think the guy said it was 2 different flashes, cus one was needed for the gas tank recall and they did the other one that imissed along time ago, so i guess its an r flash?

gotcha. i heard though that the flash themselves don't give the power, but since the ecu is reset that it gives the power, b/c over time the ecu adapts for mpg instead of performance.

I am currently on P flash and have reset the ecu to see if I could tell any difference from changes, and I can say that it was immediately more responsive to throttle inputs, but not significantly faster...it had a little more midrange, but not much. So, I imagine that the ecu tuned things back a bit for my freeway driving (long trip).
I have an appointment Thursday for recalls, so i could report my impressions of the R flash then. However, I have a CEL and loss of power above 6k. So I imagine that I have some additional problems.
I think it was Marietta8 that dynoed on M flash, then dynoed on N flash and recognized a repeatable 3-4 hp gain. I will have to search and see if I can find that post, but it pretty old.

Oil Injection
While some of the flashes do change the ECU maps to give better performance/better economy...most of the effects you feel are from the ECU being cleared out....meaning its running just off the factory maps and not the adapted maps from getting used to how you drive.

thats not exactly the case. please read the "k,l,m, flash explanation" sticky by Polak but
some of the flashes leaned out the AFR in certain areas of the rpm range SO goign from one flash to the next can give you more power.
all flashes include the previous changes. so you didnt get 2 flashes they did one flash to the newest and greatest that covered all the past ones you missed plus the Recall so you are now on R or the equivalent.
since they say they did 2 that means they probably finally closed MSP04 for you(search for post by me for an explanation of that) So you could have been on the original M flash like i currently am. Since you went from original M to the R that is jumping at least 4 flashes at least one of which added some power because they were leaning out the AFR.
Now if your Long Term Fuel Trim was also richening your AFR and that was cleared for the flash then you get a double effect. one of which will slowly go away if your LTFT enrichens your mix again.
question? ill be back later going to get the recall(s) done and such

that sounds about right to me. i think my fuel was richer before the flash to cus of the smell and backfires. i still get sum backfires from my exhaust, but the smell is gone mostly.
