Help a noob with AC problems!
Help a noob with AC problems!
So I had the hood up, checking oil and coolant and so on after a wash and I accidentally bumped the AC something something (I'm don't know a lot of car parts yet).
It started shooting out freon and something that felt like lubricant, and now I have no AC pressure or anything.
Here's a picture of the part -

Any ideas on what to do? Sorry if this is a duplicate thread, I have no clue what to search.
Thanks.

You need to fix the leak and have it recharged. They will pull a vacuum on the system to evacuate the air and ensure it isn't leaking...and then charge it with refrigerant.
That is a pressure sensor, it is part of the high pressure AC line. I have no idea how little or much of the line you can get.
If you just broke the sensor, you may be better off. Where did the freon and oil come out of?
If it was that metal block, the shop manual calls that cooler pipe number 2.

It leaked where the 2 aluminum pieces meet, on the side that you can see in this pic.
There is a chance you just broke the sensor...
Hold the block with pliers, or get someone to, and unscrew the pressure switch. If the body of the sensor is broken, you win. Just be very careful. That is all alunimum. If you use penetrating oil to get it lose, be careful, I am not sure what it will do inside the AC system.

I believe you said it was coming from under the piece with the connector.
Remove the connector, hold the bloc with pliers, and unscrew the hex bolt at the base of the piece the connector went into from the block. If that piece has the leak, you can likely just replace it. Be careful though, if you broke it, it may break all the way off when you try to unscrew it. If that happens, it is a pain to get rest out, might want to take it to an AC shop for extraction and a new sensor.
I had one of those break on an older car. It was just a screw out and replace. However, the block was not aluminum.
If you are not comfortable, find a good AC shop. You will need them to evacuate and refill the system anyway. Point out where you saw the leak to save them searching.

Well I finally got around to taking it apart and all, but my parents being the overbearing people they are just called mazda and told them my problem and told them to fix it. Its probably going to be around $500.
Im still not convinced that it was broken though. I mean nothing looked broken at all. Ill post some pics of what I can see in a second.
