HELP! Lights and ACC on but Car will not even crank!
HELP! Lights and ACC on but Car will not even crank!
Was driving home and came to a stop light. Car came to an idle & then stalled. I tried to start it back up but it didn't even budge, nudge or crank. Nothing, but strangely all my lights, radio, and electronics work. So not battery.
Is my alternator shot? What else could be the culprit?
Need help ASAP!
I should also add that this happened a day after I installed the BHR ignition. Oh and already checked my coil & plug connections & ground wire, all of that is fine.

Should have nothing to do with the alternator.
Sounds like something that would occur when the starter interlock switch isn't engaged.
Where did you run your ground?

It's bolted down along with battery tray(which is aluminum), which is bolted to chasis.
Should the Ground terminal be in direct contact with the chasis or does it matter? As it is now it's bolted down on the battery bracket.

No problem.
And there are two ways to check the starter interlock switch:
If the car still doesn't start, then its definitely something else.
And there are two ways to check the starter interlock switch:
- Simply press in that white shaft to engage the switch and try starting the car.
Obviously, you don't need to press the clutch pedal in. - If you suspect the switch itself to be faulty, disconnect the wire harness and take a single wire and jump the two terminals.
If the car still doesn't start, then its definitely something else.
This sounds pretty silly, but worth adding... if you jump the terminals, make sure the car isn't in gear when you try to start the car if you don't have the clutch depressed.
oops!
oops!
Well it was indeed the 15A engine fuse in the eng bay. But now my problem is the fuse keeps blowing. What gives? Is there a short a somewhere thats causing this fuse to keep blowing out?
Where could this short be?
Where could this short be?
First place i would be looking is the coil install ....... double check everything
also :do you have an aftermarket midpipe ? If so , check the o2 sensor wire is not shorting out - this happened to me once ......

Well, if the ground isn't the issue just throw in a 20amp fuse! HAHA, I keed I keed. No don't do that, I'm not real sure what all components draw power through that fuse. Did you check all the fuses in the engine bay and the interior fuse bank? I found a couple that were blown from the coil swap.
Ok fellas replaced fuse again, retorqued my battery terminals and coil ground down(which were a tad loose), pushed in and secured all coil & plug wires. Fired her up & everything seems fine thus far, will keep an eye on it though.
Thanks a ton for everything, Damn I love this forum. Saved me some major time & headache. Can't imagine how something so small disabled my whole damn vehicle. haha

HAHA you know what I was seriously considering replacing that fuse w/a 20A
Well the problem has returned...
Does anyone know what is ran by the 15A engine fuse?
I have much reason to believe there is a issue with the coils. I will reinsatalling my stock ones tomorrow and seeing if this will be duplicated. I'm going to also run a check on them with a multimeter, before uninstalling.
I'm also getting a flashing security light whenever this happens. (which according to the shop manual could be a com error between coils)
