A battery will also whine under a large load.

The alternator will whine under a load, not the battery.

to the OP

Start listening to some people and get your alternator checked out. Who cares if it is powder coated. Alternators do fail. Get the thing checked out.

Charge your battery with a charger before replacement/after replacement. If you use the alternator to charge the dead battery you're putting a lot of unnecessary stress on the alternator and can potentially cause damage to it.

you guys seem to miss the fact that im not concerned about the parts, something is wrong yes, alternator is still functioning atleast mostly. Yes, its powdercoated , thats not any reason why im not replacing it, but why replace it if its working fine?

The issue is so ridiculously intermittent i am going to have to wait months before i see this issue again. Its not the alternator im concerned with, its the short in the wiring thats either causing my alternator to temporarily fail, my battery to temp fail, or whatever else is causing the issue.

car is on the side of the road again, let it sit for a few days to try and see if it was a water shorting type thing and let it dry out, got about 10 minutes down the road no problems and this time it just instantly cut out, no warnings or anything and then after about 30 minutes started up, drove it 5 minutes then started cutting out and doing the normal die down..

im gonna replace the alternator and have this one tested to see what went out if anything. Im assuming if the voltage regulator is bad then its a short in the wiring, if its good and the core is bad im assuming its just a bad alternator, if nothing is wrong im assuming there is an intermittent short in the wiring and just cutting power off TO the alternator or something.

i guess we will see

Mine did the same thing when my positive connections were loose on the terminal to the main fuse box.

Makes sense...you would be having what would be basically a hard short to complete the circuit. It would stay connected probably on cooler days and be more bothersome on hot. Also bumps would play into it some.
