Help! Alarm issues

I have the factory-installed alarm on my 05 RX-8, and I'm hoping someone can help me out. Is there a manual on-off switch? Is it possible to turn the alarm off and keep it off until you want it on again? It's such a hassle to have the alarm sounding every couple of minutes at the car wash, and having it reset itself while I'm in the trunk, etc.!

Your "Factory Alarm" should not be going off until you open a door. If it has the "Factory" motion sensor, then it will go off if something BIG hits the car.
So what is setting it off?
If it keeps going off then it sounds like you have an aftermarket alarm.

I guess it's the motion sensor - it goes off when water hits it in the wash, when the trunk or hood is closed, when I'm wrenching / working on brakes, etc. Loud noises set it off, too (like bass). It is definitely not aftermarket.

It is on the footwell wall on the passenger side, and may be up behind the plastic there.

The little square box has a control **** on it for adjustment....

I have a very similar problem. I park it and walk away and 80% of the time 10min later the alarm starts going off. Do you think it would be the battery dying, because it starts and I have never had to jump it. Where is this control **** exactly?

just adjust the sensitivity of the thing. It is in the pass fllorboard mounted around the blower motor. It has a **** top adjust it. Suppose to be adjust where it will go off only if a tennis ball dropped from 1 meter above the windsheild hits it. No less force should set it off. I adjusted mine this way and very very rarely does it go off with out being hit.
