Whatever it is your covered under warranty for your transmission and clutch... My car was slightly grinding in every gear, but most noticeably from 1st to second and reverse. occasionaly it wouldnt even go into 1st gear. It was still very driveable and I didnt think it was a big deal until i took it to the dealership where they found out something in the transmission or clutch destroyed them both. Its currently in the shop getting fixed under warranty. Good Luck

It doesnt matter if you bought the car used because the basic powertrain warranty transfers with the owner for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Take it into your nearest Mazda dealer and it should be covered.. Your car is a 2008 with 24,000 miles right?

your car is a 2008 model with 24,000 miles. You are covered under Mazdas warranty that comes with every car used, new, regardless of owner. If you go to your nearest Mazda dealer they will help you out.
