Gear grinding

Alright guys, every time I'm hard accelerating and change gears I hear a small grind ( syncros maybe ) however if I'm doing say 45mph and want to drop it in to second it just grinds trying to go in, and pretty much does not let me. So do you think it could be the clutch not having enough grip or are my syncros off?

Sounds possible, but I read somewhere that a bad input shaft bearing could do the same? Id like to hear what people say, as that has happened to me as well (though not as severe as your case).

Good luck!

Actually disregard the input shaft bearing. I read it in an older thread but later it was ignored as a possibility, which kinda makes sense.

Small grind into gears under heavy throttle is synchros, have you tried rev matching your downshift into 2nd?

I had a similar issue and it was the 2nd gear syncho. My car was still under warranty so dealerhip replaced syncro and 2nd gear.

just an update, finally went to the dealer and they diagnosed it as either syncro or pressure plate... hmm heres the catch.. syncro covered under warranty and pressure plate is not.. so the only way to find out is to remove the tranny and see.. lol its going to be a gamble, and possibly an expensive one if its the plate
